Each day I begin and end my day with intercessory prayers.  When I became a member of the Order of Saint Luke, I made a vow to affirm the apostolic hope, to magnify the sacraments, and to live a sacramental life.  As part of that commitment, I pray what is known as the Daily Office.  The Daily Office refers to a pattern of daily prayer in the life of the Church which occurs during certain day parts.  For instance, I pray in the early morning a service called morning lauds, then three diurnal offices during the day (ususally mid morning, noon, and afternoon), then a service of evening vespers, and finally a compline office just before I go to sleep.

This prayer time helps me to stay connected with our Lord, and allows me the opportunity to focus my prayers rather than just ramble on as I am inclined to do at times, or even nod off during my prayers.  I also have the joy of knowing that many other Christians around the world are offering prayers in the same manner, and somehow in my mind I feel as though it magnifies my prayers.  I am part of a community of believers that are praying in unison with me and for me.  I find that to be a very exciting thing.

I want you to know, that if you send a prayer request to me, it will be kept confidential and I will pray for you multiple times daily.

I have created daily offices for prayer based on the daily offices published by the Order of Saint Luke.  These offices are available for download below.  I usually pray these offices with my wife, and they are designed as an office for more than one person.  However, I also often pray them alone.  I don’t change the prayers when I am alone, because I know that these prayers are being offered up along with other Christians praying the daily office.
